Welcome to Holmes Elementary School – Home of the Hedgehogs! Holmes opened in the fall of 1937 and is named in honor of George Holmes – president of the First National Bank. George donated the land for the school with the stipulation that the school be named for his mother, Emma H. Holmes, an early settler. The school occupies the place where his childhood farmhouse and barn once stood.
Holmes Elementary serves approximately 400 students in our preschool through fifth grade program. Specialist teachers in art, music, physical education, computer science, and library media use their expertise and talents to provide a well-rounded program for our students.
